Remembering Yellowstone, the Yellowstone Gateway Museum’s fall speaker series, continues on Wednesday, October 25, 7:00 pm, with Lesley M. Gilmore, author of Canyon Village in Yellowstone: The Model for Mission 66. The program is free and open to the public.
The nationwide Mission 66 program enabled the National Park Service (NPS) to upgrade, improve, and infuse funding into the neglected and over-used parks from 1956 through 1966. The aim was for conservation, staffing, building, and road improvements to be completed for the 50th anniversary of the NPS. This program was inaugurated at Canyon Village in Yellowstone National Park.
