The Yellowstone Gateway Museum is celebrating Museum and Cultural History Day on Thursday, August 18, from 10 AM to 6 PM. Special activities and interactive exhibits are featured that day during this free event. The day is part of the week-long Park County Days held in Livingston, Montana beginning August 14.

New exhibits include “1916: 100 Years Ago in Park County;” “The Art of Tom L. Roberts” which features oil paintings depicting explorers and fur trappers; the new Transportation Room exhibit, “Wilsall to Wonderland: Trails, Roads, and Rails;” and our new bison, where visitors can take a “safe selfie.”

Museum volunteers will fire up the Vink Blacksmith Shop forge and give demonstrations. Other outdoor exhibits include the One-room Schoolhouse, Civil War cannon, fire trucks, caboose, and more. Wilcoxson’s Ice Cream will be offered to attendees.

Other area museums will participate as well, setting up booths on the lawn of the Yellowstone Gateway Museum, 118 W. Chinook St., in Livingston. These include the Cooke City Museum and the Crazy Mountain Museum from Big Timber.
