ZooMontana at YGM During August Family Days

08/17/2023 - ZooMontana at YGM During August Family Days

The Yellowstone Gateway Museum in Livingston announces the next Family Days on Saturday, August 26, from 10am to 12pm. ZooMontana’s themes for their visit are camouflage and mimicry. They are planning to bring several Animal Ambassadors to the museum, including Madagascar hissing cockroaches, Sally the Tiger salamander, and Ginger the Garter snake. ZooMontana will provide fascinating biofacts, a memory game, and a coloring activity for families to enjoy. The museum will also be open for exploration.

Madagascar hissing cockroaches' greatest defense is mimicking the hiss of a snake for protection. Both tiger salamanders and garter snakes have colorations that help them camouflage into their natural habitats where they like to stay low to the ground. If medical concerns arise for any of the animals, alternative animals will be brought to the museum.

ZooMontana is a zoological/botanical garden, accredited arboretum and educational facility in Billings Montana. They are dedicated to the conservation of wildlife throughout Montana.

Family Days is a program at the museum held on the last Saturday of each month. Families can visit the museum and participate in different activities that encourage exploration of the museum through different themes. Admission is free. The program is made possible in part by a grant from the Community Closet.
